Our commitment: public data and a transparent algorithm

Because this is a legal resource, accuracy and transparency come first. Every LexPilot Score is built only from publicly available information — official websites, public rankings, and public records — and is computed with the transparent, published algorithm described on this page. We do not use private or unverifiable data, we never invent ratings, and a listing can never pay to change its score.

LexPilot is an independent directory. Our ratings are editorial assessments designed to help you compare options quickly — they are never sold, and a listing can never pay for a higher score or placement.

What the LexPilot Score is

The LexPilot Score is a 0–5 editorial rating assembled by our team against a published rubric. It is not an average of user reviews, and we do not display star ratings we cannot stand behind. Each overall score breaks down into four sub-dimensions so you can see how we got there. We currently rate a curated set of leading, well-documented listings; everything else is clearly marked "Not yet rated" until we have assessed it.

How we score law firms

Credibility — licensing in good standing, years in practice, and recognition by independent authorities such as bar associations or established legal rankings. Transparency — a clear website, published fee or consultation policy, named attorneys, and complete contact details. Accessibility — free consultations, languages served, and how easy the firm is to reach. Focus — genuine depth in the practice areas the firm claims, rather than being a generalist.

How we score AI legal tools

Capability — how well the tool performs its stated use-case. Usability — onboarding effort and how cleanly it integrates with everyday tools. Value — pricing transparency and fit, including free tiers or trials. Trust — who stands behind the product, its data-security and privacy posture, and how honest it is about what it cannot do.

How the overall score is weighted

For law firms the overall score weights Credibility 35%, Focus 25%, Transparency 20%, and Accessibility 20%. For AI tools it weights Capability 30%, Trust 25%, Usability 25%, and Value 20%. Sub-scores are derived from documented public signals — for example, independent rankings and recognitions feed Credibility, while free or trial pricing and integrations feed Value and Usability — so the same facts always produce the same score.

What we don't do

We do not publish fabricated reviews or invented ratings. We do not accept payment for scores, ranking, or the Verified badge. "Editor's Pick" marks a listing our team recommends editorially — it is never a paid placement.

Verification and sources

A Verified badge means we have confirmed a listing's licensing or legitimacy against an authoritative source; until then a listing is clearly marked as compiled from public sources. Where shown, the "last checked" date tells you when we last reviewed the facts. Spotted something out of date? Use the "Suggest an edit" link on any listing and we'll review it.

LexPilot is an information directory. Scores are editorial opinion, not legal advice, and a listing is not an endorsement. Always consult a licensed attorney about your specific situation.
