The question

A friend of mine is asking me to lend him $300,000 for a period of 2 years. As part of a guarantee and to protect my money, he is willing to let me put a lien on a hotel property that he owns in Clearfield, PA. I do not know how many liens the property has although he says that he has only one lien from the mortgage. What would be a process for me to ensure that my money is protected and that he pays me back within 2 years?
