Back in December 2012 I attended Access Careers at [redacted-address] Brooklyn,NY 11201 after I was told by the administrator he would grant me a scholarship after I refused to enroll due to cost since I was on public assistance. The financial aid person tried to get me to sign a contract which I refused to do so he typed in my name on the contract unknown to me also the teaher was inexperinced, about March 2013 he changed the program from CCNA to data, thats when I quit and bills start coming, now the IRS took my refund of $1073.00 to pay that debt. I did some research since 2013 and this School was not authorised to teach computer classes.

Currently my lawyer just closed his law office no warning this was happening, no letter, no phone call, nothing. He did this with my medical malpractice settlement of $1.5 million for lost of a leg. Plus, in middle of global settlement with worker's comp section 32. I need lawyer or law firm with these 2 specialties. My lawyer also forgot to mention he closed his escrow with my name & social security # and place the $ in his general escrow acct. He will not give me any documentation about my funds. My daughter is disabled and diagnosed with ADHD since 2013 and her teacher was bullying her and was suspended incident occured 2/9/18

Me and my wife went to speak to the principle regarding my daughter to help her obtain more help at school, the principle tells us after the meeting that he suspended one of his teachers because she would humiliate my daughter by having her read in front of the class her failing grades and accused my daughter of kissing another boy. My daughter cried and so did the other child. My daughter told the principle who reviewed video cameras and saw that the teacher lied. The teacher then calls my daughter and the little boy into a room to scream at her for telling the principal and then stands my daughter in front of the class and asks the boy and her if he/she is gay, numerous kids witnessed it. The incident occurred on February 9, 2018 my daughter had been crying telling us she wanted another teacher and we knew nothing about it until principle told us half the story on 02/23/2018. In addition the principle stated they have lawyers involved and will not tell us what happened.

Can I stay a 5 day school suspension in NY

My child was suspended for 5 days and I was wondering if I could bring an injunctive relief to stay the suspension.

I see that a parent can get sue but what about a school teacher or nurse it doesn't say nothing about them getting sue but quick to sue a parents?

My son got hurt Friday afternoon on their watch (school) it wasn't the teachers fault, but it was no little injure it was a bad one which lead my son to get about 10 stitches on his forehead about his right eye on the eyebrow. Now I left instructions on what to do in case of something serious like that happen in the event I was called around 12:44pm on Friday 2nd of February 2018 now the call didn't come from an school nurse or did the teacher like. I was already on my back to the school cause I had a P.A board meeting when I got the call to hurry up and get to the school when I got to the school I was in the nurses office 5min and my son was crying and she didn't come out and pay him no mind nor did she know that I was there I was scared and almost passed out from what I saw and she didn't call the ambulance after was trying to justify her self which there was no justification in the situations cause my son was sitting there bleeding and badly hurt which was a deep Laceration.

Expulsions

My child is facing expulsion from a Buffalo New York charter school. At the meeting I asked to see who the statements that these supposed witnesses. But I was refused. Told they cannot give me me names or see their statements. Am I allowed to have access to these so called statements of these so called witnesses

Can i sue my son school for failing to meet after three years of dealing with behavioral problems

I get phone calls all the time from the school stating my son did xyz. From hitting teacher. Its to the point his behavior effects with grades. I feel like this is a form of neglect to his needs

I was dropped from my student teaching assignment at week 8/10. My CI said I "wouldn't make it" in 2 weeks so was not allowed to continue. GPA is 3.7

I am a graduate student completing my masters in special education. I was told by my supervisor at week 8 that I "wouldn't make it" in the last 2 weeks and was not allowed to continue. I have successfully met 13 of the 15 objectives in the syllabus however will be receiving an Unsatisfactory grade. My first appeal was denied. I am continuing the appeal process. It has been determined that I am allowed to "re-take" the student teaching however I cannot financially afford to do so. My Supervisor's directives were confusing and contradictory at times, her demeanor was harsh making my experience difficult.

The tuition agreement provides for the reimbursement of the initial deposit (minus 15%) if the student gives the establishment a written notice to that effect at least 120 days prior to the first day of instruction. I have been refused reimbursement.

I want to withdraw my child from Special Education

I'm moving school districts. Right before I withdrew her she got arrested for threatening in 2nd degree over a snapchat, not to anyone in particular though. She was suspended for 5 days. I withdrew her but the new school won't enroll because apparently the complaint came from a student at that school. They want to place her in a special program at another school. I do not want her to be placed in a special program at all. I'm thinking of withdrawing her from special ed altogether. She hates paraprofessionals hanging over her, won't talk to the counselors and hates being pulled out of class. She is perfectly capable of doing the work in a regular setting as long as she applies herself. We can get a tutor for her otherwise. Right now she is placed in an alternative ed program while we decide what to do. Can I legally refuse special ed?

We are in the Irvington, NY school district. My son, kindergarten age 5, has kicked his teacher and threatened her and has hit an aid. We want him evaluated independently as we do not trust the school psychologist. She kept him sitting on the floor of her office for over 2 hours because he refused to speak to her. He eventually blurted out that he was going to booby trap the school. She then asked if he wanted to hurt people. Which he said yes. Her next question was if he wanted to kill people in the school. He again angrily replied yes. He was not allowed back into his class and eventually sent to the principals office where she asked if he wanted to hurt people and he replied, 'of course not'. A couple days later he was suspended for telling his teacher that he wanted to kill her (we feel this came directly from the psychologists questioning). The psychologist has told us that she thinks he is a threat to the school and we do not feel that she is competent.

Do I have any recourse against a private religious school that is kicking out my child for behaviors stemming from ADHD?

My child is diagnosed with ADHD, he has been in the school for seven years. In the beginning, he used to throw chairs and desks, he has thrown a hockey stick at a gym teacher, he has been physical with other children in the school. Over the years his behavior has improved but he still continues to have issues. He sees a therapist outside school once a week and twice a week in school. He is medicated and his has a full time shadow in school with him all day. Any time the school has asked us to do anything we have responded yes and have jumped through all of their hoops. They have requested a meeting with us tomorrow and we suspect they are going to kick him out of the school.

The teacher was upset at the way the administrator handled the matter and put in the letter in haste. She thought better of it and rescinded the letter one day prior to a board meeting.

Can a public school ever be held liable for tuition fees of a child who needs to switch schools?

Hello, are there any circumstances in which a public school can be held liable for tuition fees for a child switching schools out of that district? My daughter has been a victim of bullying for about 3 years- every one worse than the previous. I’ve had so many meetings with the school I’ve lost count. Principals, school psychologists, social workers, etc. I have filed two police reports and nothing has changed. The school has failed in providing my child a safe environment for her education. My daughter tried taking her life this past weekend, and is currently in an inpatient facility. When she gets out, I cannot send her back to that torturous school. However, tuition for a school near us is 7k/year. Is there anyway to hold the school accountable for this? (We are in NY.) Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

changing districts

i live on a street that one end is one town and the other is different. 13 house are Chatham and 10 are long hill. the bus comes through our street as it is. Its so hard for my kids when their friends on the street go to one and they go to another. I know is has been done in other states.. I lived in where i payed taxes to one town but had schools in a different district. is that something I can do here in NJ?

what should the school do if they know my 15yr old son has been injured in an unprevoked attack and he runs away from the school

my son ran away from school after he was attacked as he felt his head of year would find a way to blame him, he was so worried about his teachers that he asked a complete stranger to bring him home. the school phoned me to say he had been injured but had run away and they didn't know where he was that was at 11.40am. I didn't hear from the school again until after 2pm when discovered they had done nothing to find my son. should they have called the police when he ran off knowing that he was bleeding and had been put in a choke hold by the other boy until my son was on the floor, we think he may have passed out as he only remembers the boy grabbing him from behind and the nxt thing he was being helped up off the floor.

Can a catholic school expel a child with one days notice.

We are being asked to withdraw our son from school by letter with one day's notice. He has behavioral issues which were told to the school before he began. They are now saying they can't accommodate him. This doesn't seem legal to me. Shouldn't there have been a formal meeting or discussion? At least a period of time to allow us to find another school to transfer him to?
