There is rumor that our local high school might withhold diplomas at graduation (but have grad. ceremony) an mail them out later. Is this legal?
The school might not give actual diplomas at graduation, and will just hand out the diploma case at the ceremony (to make it look like graduates are handed something) and then mail out the actual diploma later. This has something to do with number of school days required by the district, and that they might have to make up snow days etc. So if a student has met all requirements for graduation can they legally hold back the diploma from the student for this other reason that has nothing to do with the student? Is this legal?

What are my legal rights in holding my 15 year old back from graduating to 10th grade?
My 15 year old daughter is disobedient to most authority figures, gets into disputes with her parents, school authorities and anyone else who attempts to institute rules and now has now just stopped going to school at all.. The school system continues to pass her through each year (3 years now) and this year put her in i9 (an intervention class for kids who struggle with grades) but she just repeats her cycle all over again each year. She has missed over 30 days of school this year and now has stopped going to school at all. My husband and I feel she needs to be held back in 9th grade and not progress to 10th grade. What are our legal rights in holding her back?

Can I remove my 3rd grader from a private school in May of the school year
My 3rd grader is attending a private school that is closing in June. She is already registered for a new school in Sept. The current location is no longer teaching the students. Several of the students are out of control and make it impossible for the teacher to teach. I have spoken with the teacher, principle multiple times. Every day this 9 year old comes home with horror stories. Today was my last straw. The bullies of the class are starting to totally take over and today a boy hit and pushed my 9 year old girl child and not action was taken. I feel that sending her here for two more months is unacceptable.

Is the school mandated by law to evaluate my child and his 504, for being truant?
I live in Albany County, New York. My son is having itually absent from school. His explaination about it ranges from depression, cannot focus with a class of 15 students, claims they don't help him enough, believes his teachers do not like him, over sleeps and is tired in the morning etc etc... I've asked the school on numerous occasions to evaluate my son for special education, as well as a reevaluation of his 504 since they failed to notify me BEFORE the committee meeting to determine his placements as well as his accommodations for class room issues as I did not have a say or making of such . My son has become increasingly truant and the school does not seem to be working with me to resolve the issue. Their response is they cannot help him if he does not come to school.. but when he shows up, they fail to address any of these issues and he circles back to skipping school again. What are my options to the school and what, as a parent, are my rights when dealing with the school
